15th August 2009 : Helen Gordon & The Great London Swim Helen Gordon is taking part in the Great London Swim, a 1-mile swimathon on the River Thames on 15th August to raise money for us. She chose to support us because she is committed to making a change for the better to people's working lives. Helen says; "There is no place for antisocial, bullying behaviour in the workplace. I am studying to become an occupational psychologist and hope to be able to change organisations for the better with effective, fair and appropriate HR and management policies. Interesting Rogue Bosses avoid paying tribunal money. One in 10 successful tribunal claimants are never paid. Of the 15,000 tribunal cases every year that go as far as final settlement, 1,500 of the claimants do not receive their award. A draft Compromise Agreement was drawn up and specified a termination date and he was removed from the payroll. Negotiations ran for 6 months. Then the employer sent a letter confirming the termination date. The teacher lodged a tribunal claim and the employer tried to have it thrown out as 'out of time'. The EAT upheld the case and said there must be an unequivocal dismissal; this was the date of the letter. Dickens v 02. Stressed Workers should go home. 02 was sued for mental injury caused by excessive workload in October 2008. It was sufficient that Dickens had complained to 02, ie itg was established that this damage was forseeable. Even though she was not signed off by her GP, 02 was in breach of its Duty of Care. SCA Packaging v Boyle. Definition of disability has been widened and more illnesses will qualify as a disability. If it is likely that the condition will return without treatment, it should be viewed as "could well happen" and in this case, matters go to a full hearing. More news to follow.

August : Swindon Wildcats (Ice Hockey Team) Adopt The National Bullying
Helpline Charity for the 2009/10 season. The
Swindon Wildcats (Ice Hockey team) are a truly community orientated
sports club and they are working with schools and kids across Swindon;
through roadshows and in respect of their 'learn to skate' programme.
They are also supporting The National Bullying Helpline Charity
as part of their school visits programme and through a fund-raising
initiative for the Charity. Anyone struggling with bullying issues
should eat well and exercise regularly. These are two important
messages The Swindon Wildcats and The National Bullying Helpline
Charity want to promote across Wiltshire schools in the run up to
National Ban Bullying week : 16 -20 November 2009.“We wish to thank all those who have supported us so far.
